Harvest of Hope: Sorting
The Archdiocese of Chicago, together with Catholic Charities of Chicago, is launching Harvest of Hope, a united effort to feed those who are hungry throughout Cook and Lake counties. The suffering brought on by the recent government shutdown, job losses, spending cuts, and intensified immigration enforcement have placed many in jeopardy of losing access to food and other essentials. As a result, food pantries across our Archdiocese are under tremendous strain. Between November 29 and December 14, parishes will be organizing food drives.
Volunteers are needed to help process, sort, and prepare packages for distribution to food pantries across Cook and Lake Counties.
Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes (i.e. sneakers) for warehouse safety. Volunteers will lift and move boxes upwards of 25 lbs. in weight.
